Downhill – Fast!

The iconic Great Southern Bolt 12K runs a spectacular downhill course from Myponga to Aldinga Bay. Starting at the Myponga Reservoir, winding through farming country and then down Main South Road towards the ocean and the finish line at the Aldinga Bay Surf Life Saving Club.
2025 will be the last year that we run Great Southern Bolt, so if you have ever wanted to run it, this is your last chance!

The Bolt also features a flat 5K and free kids’ dash on Silver Sands beach.
Note: there will be no half marathon at the 2025 Great Southern Bolt. It is all about the fast 12K ⚡️
The route was stunning and the event was a well oiled machine. Loved the point to point. It was the funnest fun run I’ve done in a looooong time.

The pre-race parking and bus process was simple and easy. Lots of marshals and volunteers made everything seamless.

Everything – from keeping us well informed before the day. I was blown away by the realisation how huge the organisation was. Buses, road closures, volunteers, the finish line set up….. I still get a buzz thinking about it.
