5K
The Great Southern Bolt 5K is run on a quick, flat course along Silver Sands beach and is suitable for both runners and walkers.
Come to enjoy the beaches and stunning coastlines of the Fleurieu Peninsula and sample the hospitality of the McLaren Vale region where you’ll find some of the best wines, produce and microbreweries in Australia.

Course Details
All courses are currently provisional, subject to final council and government permits being obtained.
The 5K starts on Silver Sands Beach at the Norman Road access ramp. Runers head south on the beach for 500m south before completing a U-turn and heading 2.5 km north to the Aldinga Beach Boat Ramp. Runners will then complete a 2nd U-turn before following the beach for a further 2 km south. You will leave the beach at the Norman Road beach ramp to finish under the arch in front of the Aldinga Bay Surf Life Saving Club.
Course Map
Drink Stations
A water station will be located at the start/finish area, but there will be no drink stations located on the Great Southern Bolt 5K course.
Only compostable cups made from plant-based materials will be used during the Great Southern Bolt to minimize our impact on the environment
Cut Off Time
The 5K course has a 1 hour cur-off time for finishing (equivalent to 12 minutes per kilometre).
A tail walker will follow the last participant around the course for safety reasons and to relieve marshals from their positions.
Marshals
Please be courteous to our marshals and other volunteers. Remember that they are giving up their Sunday morning to make sure that you will enjoy your run.

Presentations
Trophies will be awarded to the first 3 male and first 3 female place-getters in the Great Southern Bolt 5K. Presentations time is TBC.
